Return to Armrug Home

"Pete Waterman on line 1!" came the shout. It was Tracy, the new receptionist at Armrug HQ. She's got great pins but she's a bit mouthy. "Pete Waterman's on the phone!" she yelled. It'd been like this for months, every couple of days we'd have Pete on the phone begging to speak to us, but we were having none of it. "Tell him we're busy, in a meeting or something, we'll call him back" said I. Of course we never returned his calls.
It carried on like this for some time until one day Pete turned up in reception. I don't know how he found us; our HQ is in a secret underground location with a series of ingenious booby-traps hidden in the only access tunnel. It was obvious from Pete's dishevelled look and bloodied face that he’d been on his own little Indiana Jones adventure to get here, so being kindly souls we agreed to speak to him when we “had a window”.
The next window was three weeks later. Much to Pete’s credit he stuck it out; kipping on the floor in reception and using his considerable charms to talk Tracy into delivering snacks to him whenever possible. He seemed like a man on the edge, perhaps he’d fallen on hard times, I don’t know, I don’t read Heat.
Finally, we found a window in our busy schedules to see the poor man. He immediately started his spiel, he’d had 18 months of phone calls and 3 weeks on a cold reception floor to get it right. We were sold right away. It sounded like a dream come true.
Pete wanted to start up a new boy band, but one with an ‘edge’, something a bit more ‘rock’. “You’re the boys for me” he kept saying. We loved it, he’s very charismatic. We talked for hours about Kylie and trains, until eventually he convinced us to sign on the dotted line.
And so that’s how we came to be where we are today, a minor unsigned indie band playing in toilet venues across the country with other small-time bands. It’s a dream come true I tell you. A dream come true. Thanks Pete.

Armrug's live shows are legendary (in our own minds). Why not see if you've got an important appointment on the date of our next gig... if you have, call them up and cancel - this is too important to miss!

Here's a review: "Sounding like British rock did before it was dragged to TopMan, Armrug were a boisterous punk-flavoured trio of likely lads energy. The short shock intro sprinted into cocky verses and sharp-suited choruses, all Jam style and Clash bravado. Charming laid-back humour and a faultless simple set up of two guitarists and a powerful drummer made for much applause and warm appreciation. The flickering of blues and hints of a rock long since forgotten to youth today were boundless in spirit; a band name to drop into conversations with out-of-towners." - Liam Pennington from Listenupnorthwest.org.uk
